Did you know that alternative types are deemed "crunchy"? Funny, I never heard that before. Relates to the "granola eater" stereotype. But, what are you called if even granola is too mainstream for you?

Oh yeah, the term Crunchy has been used to describe Boulderites for a while now. I think it has to do with the texture of the hair too, as personal hygiene seems to rate low on the scale of daily activities here.

Crunchy people can easily be identified by their Birkenstocks.

If you consider crunchy mainstream, or if - like me - you consider most self professing "crunchies" simply self absorbed individuals who really should be spending their time and money on the more global concerns they claim to care so much about instead of buying overpriced sandals, you would probably do something more radical in the footwear department - like go barefoot or buy something sensible without a recognizible label.

Course, it might not be about footwear at all ... ..
