Even in deep talks with lovers, she would
sometimes get angry and compare men to
terrible bracelets which can't be removed
because they were still there from her childhood:
"One day," she says, "One day I'll cut them all
from my wrists with a hacksaw and then stare
at the pieces and say some of them were
more intricate, some more tarnished. I'll pile
them onto my bed and sleep next to them
for one night noting how they lay cut and
curled like clipped silver hairs from my head.
Then, I'll drown them in the deepest pond."
But, only to women does she say this,
because all women wear terrible bracelets.
