Who Am I to Disagree?

22 Apr 2008

Ever notice that some people say "make love to " and other people say "make love with "? Only, doesn't "to" seem a bit, I don't know, aggressive? Isn't it preferable, or at least more courteous, to use "with"?

Apparently not ... Check out these Google search results:

"make love to" -- 2,360,000 hits
"make love with" -- 299,000 hits

So, making love "to" someone is more than seven times more common than making love "with" someone. Seven times as many people, it would seem, prefer to make love "to" others (or, I suppose be made love to). Either way, the vast majority of people want to fuck or be fucked. I guess Annie Lennox was right:

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused

It would seem the connection -- the "with" -- is in fact the sweet dream of which Ms. Lennox speaks.

LK and I just had this conversation the other day. We finally just said "fuck it" and went to bed.

Nicely done! The phrase "make love," makes me want to wretch. I think "banging bodies with," is a better phrase, no?

Now that song will be in my head for the rest of the day.

I happen to enjoy "making love on."
